St Paul's RC Primary School “the missing piece of your child's education” ‘We are the family of God’

Design & Technology Club

DT Club It has been a very busy half term for some of the Year 5’s who have been coming along to the after-school DT club on Thursdays. We have been working with engineers from ACME who have kindly donated the equipment to design and make the vehicles. The design brief is, “Children are to design an electrically powered vehicle that will be able to perform a range of functions to include climbing an incline with its canopy/lid included, move in a straight line (3m) forwards and in reverse. Year 1 pupils have also participated making vehicles but worked in their class. The design brief, “Children are to design a vehicle that will travel down a ramp in a straight line over as long a distance as possible.”

The Primary Engineer is a STEM programme designed to encourage Primary school children to engage with real engineers who will convey the importance and universality of engineering in everybody’s lives – from the houses we live in to the technology and tools we use, from the multiple transport system we travel in to the very food we eat.

Schools will be able to develop relationships with industry, both local and worldwide, giving pupils a unique perspective of engineering professions and their significance in the wider world.
Year 6 will be performing their Production in the School Hall on Wednesday 19th July at 2pm and 6pm. The Teddy Bears Picnic was a great success on Thursday, the new Reception children enjoyed showing the current Reception class their cuddly toys. Congratulations to the Primary Engineers who came North West Runner Up with team Atom's moon buggy, on Wednesday 12th June.
