Reception

Welcome to Reception

Welcome to our Reception Class, where we love to learn through play!  Your children are taught by Mrs Eddleston, Mrs Bailey and Mrs Hunt. We enjoy working together with you so that your child continues to have a very exciting and productive year.

Our class motto is "I can" because the children are encouraged to believe they can do anything - all they have to do is try!

Welcome back to our last term in Reception, it has gone by so fast. We have a busy time ahead of us with lots of exciting learning opportunities to look forward to.

Up, Up and Away!

This term our theme is Up, Up and Away, where we are looking at various modes of transport. We have a travel agents set up as our role play, and we will be reading lots of books related to this. We are looking forward to our visits from Captain Padia and Aqualease.

Maths:- The children are continuing to develop their math's skills. They will be looking to consolidate their understanding of Number by counting back and counting in groups of 2’s and 5’s to make counting quicker. They will also re-visit 3D shapes to create exciting vehicle models.

Reading and writing:- We will be continuing with Phase 2 and 3 Phonics in order to support the children in reading and spelling words with a range of sounds that they know.We will be also working to extend the children’s writing to use a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop and to read back their sentences to check that they make sense.

We will be working within the Early Learning Goals for all 7 areas of learning and dipping into the exceeding statements too.

R.E. Come and See

The focus of this term’s work in Religious Education is the role the Holy Spirit plays in our lives. We will continue studying the themes of Reconciliation (Inter-relating) and Universal Church (World).

Reconciliation

Friends- Friends of Jesus

Suggestions for home activities

Talk together about times when you have forgiven and been forgiven. Discuss the importance of saying sorry. Look for opportunities for forgiveness and reconciliation in the day to day life of the family.

Universal church—world

Our World - God’s wonderful world

Suggestions for home activities

Together, look through a family scrapbook or photograph album of a visit to a place that is special for your family. Look at a globe or an atlas. Find a special place and pray for the people of that country.

Discuss how we can look after our world and support our neighbours, near and far.
