St. Paul's R.C. Primary School As God's family we aspire to love, grow, learn and achieve beyond our dreams

Welcome to Reception

Welcome to our Reception Class, where we love to learn through play!  Your children are taught by Mrs Eddleston, Mrs Bailey and Mrs Hunt. We enjoy working together with you so that your child continues to have a very exciting and productive year.

Our class motto is "I can" because the children are encouraged to believe they can do anything - all they have to do is try!

Happily Ever After/Polar Regions

This half term Reception class will be focusing our learning around Traditional stories. The children will begin to learn how to retell a story using Pie Corbett actions. Each week the story will come alive through different experiences both inside and outside the classroom. The children will be using their thinking and questioning skills to unravel clues left for them from different characters in the story.  In Literacy we will be comparing and creating character profiles on the characters in the Traditional stories. We will be using our imagination and change the character of who else would they like to find under the Troll bridge. The children will have lots of opportunities to explore the stories in our Happily Ever After role play area.

During our topic work we will be investigating and exploring all about polar regions and the animals that live there. We will learn how to program a Beebot to travel from the Arctic to Antarctica and make clay to model different animals.
