Statement of Intent

English unites the important skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Good oral work enhances pupils’ understanding of language in both oral and written forms and of the way language can be used in communication.

Language and Communication is a crucial and fundamental tool; it underpins all other areas of learning and life. At St Paul’s our aim is to equip our children with the skills and confidence to express their thoughts, opinions, feelings and ideas (both verbally and in written form) and to listen to and value those of others.
