Hello my name is Miss Walsh and I'm the Year 3 class teacher. In Year 3 we have Mrs Melia supporting learning. We are both so thrilled for this year and can't wait for all the fun learning we have planned.laugh

 

Our motto in Year 3 is:

YEAR 3 IT'S UP TO ME!

This is a motto we use in class regularly to encourage children's independence skills now that they are in Key Stage 2.

You have all worked very hard in Mathematics this week when we have been learning all about the written method of column addition. Therefore, your homework this week is to please complete 2 column addition tasks which are set on My Maths and should be complete by Thursday 1st October. 

Times tables test is 

This weeks spellings are set on Purple Mash to practise before a weekly spelling test on Friday 2nd October. Please see the spellings activities to help with practising below:

Year 3 information:

Times tables: Thursdays

In Year 3 we learning the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables however knowledge of our 2's, 5's and 10's needs to be secured first. Every Thursday we will have a times tables test in class to improve our personal best score so any practising at home will help greatly! 

Homework: Thursdays

Homework will be set using Purple Mash or MyMaths weekly.Purple Mash logins are glued into their reading record. It will be given out on a Thursday and should be handed in by the following Thursday. Homework will be varied between English, Maths and topic work relating to our weekly learning. If your child is struggling with their homework/spellings, please ask them to speak to either myself or Mrs Melia. 

 

Spelling - Fridays

Spellings to be given out on Friday and tested on the following Friday morning. Children will write their weekly spellings in their reading record to practise at home and I will also display them on the class page and in our classroom. Please encourage your child to practise their spellings at home in  a random order, as they will not be read in order in our weekly spelling test.

 

Reading

Your child will bring home multiple reading books every Tuesday and they should be handed back into school and changed for new books on the following Tuesday. We will still be listening to children read daily. Please sign your child's reading record regularly, it is greatly appreciated. 

 

PE - Tuesdays

Our PE lessons will be held outdoors for the foreseeable, therefore please make sure your child arrives at school in appropriate PE wear. 

 

If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to speak to me as soon as you can. If you need to inform me of some information please leave a note in your child's reading record for me to view. However,  I will be unable to write back in your child's diary so if a reply is needed please contact the school office to pass a message onto me and I will contact you.
