Prayer and Liturgy

🌟 St Paul’s Catholic Primary School

Prayer & Liturgy Summary

✝️ Our School

We are part of the Roman Catholic Parish of St Oscar Romero, through Pleasington Priory. Our mission is rooted in the Gospel, celebrating the dignity of every person and nurturing God-given talents. Prayer and liturgy are central to our life together.

📖 Why Prayer & Liturgy?

From September 2025, we are implementing the Bishops’ Prayer & Liturgy Directory – To Love You More Dearly. This underpins all we do at St Paul’s, ensuring meaningful, consistent worship at the heart of our community.

Prayer and liturgy:

  • 🙏 Give glory and thanks to God

  • 🌱 Nurture spiritual and moral growth

  • ✨ Provide daily encounters with Christ

  • ⛪ Share the richness of Catholic tradition

🕯️ How We Celebrate

  • Daily Prayer – morning, before lunch, end of day

  • Weekly Celebration of the Word – Monday, led by chaplains, linked to Sunday’s Gospel

  • Friday Celebration Assembly – achievements + prayer

  • Masses – whole-school and class-led (feasts, seasons, celebrations)

  • Class Celebration of the Word – pupil-led

  • Seasonal Devotions – e.g., Rosary groups in October/May

  • Chapel Activities – led by Pupil Chaplains & CARITAS leaders

🌍 Inclusion

While distinctly Catholic, children of all faiths are welcomed to share their traditions, enriching our community with respect and understanding.

🔎 Monitoring

  • Spirituality Floor Books – reflections, prayers, photos

  • Evaluation Book – chaplain and pupil feedback

  • Subject Leader Monitoring – quality, training, resources

💡 Impact

We know our prayer and liturgy are successful when:

  • Children grow spiritually and morally

  • Children are confident in prayer

  • Gospel values guide words, choices & actions

  • Our community flourishes in faith and belonging
