Wellbeing
Wellbeing at St. Paul’s 💛
At St. Paul’s, we believe that every child is made in the image of God and deserves to feel safe, valued, and loved. Supporting pupils’ emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing is at the heart of our mission. We work to create a nurturing environment where children can grow in confidence, build resilience, and know they are never alone on their journey.
A Caring, Faith-Filled Community
Our Catholic ethos shapes the way we care for one another. We encourage pupils to recognise their God-given worth, support their peers with kindness, and develop the emotional skills they need to flourish both inside and outside the classroom.
Targeted Support and Nurture
We understand that some children may face challenges that require extra support. We offer a range of programmes to meet individual needs, including:
ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) sessions to help children understand and manage their feelings.
Rainbows Bereavement Support GB to offer gentle guidance for pupils experiencing loss or change in their lives.
Partnership with Barnardo’s, providing specialist support and advice to help children and families build emotional resilience.
A Whole-School Approach to Wellbeing
Wellbeing is embedded across daily school life. Children can access quiet spaces, including our school chapel, for reflection and prayer. We also use calming music, mindfulness activities, and nurture sessions to support emotional regulation. Staff are trained to identify and respond to emotional needs, ensuring pupils receive care that is compassionate and effective.
Caring for Our Whole School Family
At St. Paul’s, we believe that wellbeing is not just for pupils—it is for everyone. We are committed to caring for our whole school community, including staff and families. We promote a supportive and respectful culture where staff wellbeing is prioritised, recognising that a happy, valued team creates a safe and thriving environment for children. Through prayer, pastoral support, and practical wellbeing initiatives, we foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose across our community.
Working in Partnership
We work closely with families, parish, and external agencies to offer a joined-up approach to pastoral care. By supporting the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—we aim to help every pupil feel secure, confident, and ready to achieve their full potential.
